What's wrong with America?

I check the news links every day or so and seems there's always someone shooting up a mall, killing their mom, etc.

Sociologists think that economic systems affect the psyches of the people, i.e. you get a capitalistic or communistic worldview.

Does being at war make people feel anxious and want to kill people?

Rose

If someone ever wanted to buy me a flower (don't know why that would ever be the case, I'm just sayin'), it should definitely be a red rose. I think the color of a nice red rose is pretty much the best color in the world. Great smell, too.

Screenwriting course

People keep asking for my advice on stories and stuff. So I decided to start teaching a class.

Now we'll see if anyone's interested. Ha!

Great Stories

"The secret of the Great Stories is that they have no secrets. The Great Stories are the ones you have heard and want to hear again. The ones you can enter anywhere and inhabit comfortably. They don't deceive you with thrills and trick endings. They don't surprise you with the unforeseen. They are as familiar as the house you live in. Or the smell of your lover's skin. You know how they end yet you listen as though you don't. In the way that you know that one day you will die, you live as though you won't. In the Great Stories you know who lives, who dies, who finds love, who doesn't. And yet you want to know again. That is their mystery and their magic." -Arundhati Roy, The God of Small Things

About This Site

  • Marco Pomo is my outlet for interesting things I see or think about while in China. Ben writes on this blog, too. In 2006, Ben and got the idea to travel the Silk Road with our guitars. I would call myself Marco Pomo, I had said. "And I'll be Cliche Guevera," Ben said. He's funny like that.
